What we check
Why Django Security Scanner
DEBUG=True is the single most damaging Django misconfiguration, and it's also the easiest one to ship by accident - it's the default in a fresh settings.py, and nothing breaks visibly when it's left on. An unhandled exception in production then returns a full traceback, the request's local variables, installed apps, and often the SECRET_KEY itself, all rendered directly in the HTTP response.
The built-in /admin panel is the second common exposure. Django ships it enabled by default at a predictable path, and unless it's moved, IP-restricted, or paired with strong credentials and rate limiting, it's a direct target for credential stuffing against real user accounts.
Beyond those two, Django's own `manage.py check --deploy` catches a useful set of static settings issues, but it can't see what's actually being served at runtime - whether HSTS is really present on the live response, whether the SECRET_KEY leaked into a public repo, or whether CSRF protection is genuinely applied to every view once middleware ordering and exemptions are accounted for.
