Why Next.js Security Scanner
Next.js blurs the line between client and server code in a way plain React doesn't, and that boundary is exactly where most misconfigurations show up. An API route under /pages/api or /app/api is a real backend endpoint - it needs the same authentication and input validation as any REST API - but because it lives in the same repository as the frontend, it's easy to treat it with frontend-level scrutiny instead.
getServerSideProps and getStaticProps are a second recurring source of leaks: it's straightforward to accidentally pass a server-only value (a database record, an internal flag, a third-party API response) straight into the page props object, where Next.js serializes it into the HTML and ships it to every visitor's browser.
Security headers and CSP face the same gap they do in any SPA framework - they're set at the hosting/edge layer (next.config.js headers, or the CDN in front of it), not in component code, so a redeploy or a middleware change can silently drop them without a single line of application code changing.
